Welcome to Fernly Studio

Hi! I'm Jennifer, the artist behind Fernly Studio, and I'm so happy you've found your way here. This is my very first blog post, and it is the perfect time to introduce myself, share a little about how I got here, and give you a glimpse into what Fernly Studio is all about. Whether you're an artist, creative, or someone who loves beautiful things, I hope this blog becomes a place to find inspiration, learn something new, and hopefully feel a bit encouraged.

How It All Started

I've always been drawn to art. There's something magical about putting your ideas on paper or canvas and seeing them come to life. For most of my life, though, art was just a hobby, something I'd do in my free time to unwind or escape from everyday life. I've worked in the museum world for over ten years. While I've loved being surrounded by art and history, I've always felt this pull to explore my own creativity on a deeper level.

For the longest time, I didn't think becoming a full-time artist was an option. I had all these doubts swirling in my head. “Am I good enough? Do I have what it takes? What if no one likes my work?” Imposter syndrome is real, and it can be paralyzing. But after years of keeping my art to myself, I realized that if I didn't at least try to make something of it, I'd always wonder, “What if?”

So, I made a choice. I decided to push past the fear and doubt (as much as I could, anyway) and take the leap into pursuing art more seriously. And that's how Fernly Studio was created.

What Fernly Studio Is All About

Fernly Studio is more than just a business to me. It's a reflection of my personal journey as an artist, a journey I'm eager to share with you. When I was brainstorming names for the studio, I wanted something that felt natural and spoke to growth. The image of ferns came to mind. They're resilient, grow quietly, and thrive even in shadowy corners. This felt like the perfect metaphor for my creative process.

At Fernly Studio, I focus mainly on art prints and surface design. I enjoy creating artwork that can be made into traditional art prints you can frame and hang on your walls, but I also enjoy surface design, which is basically creating patterns that can be used on all kinds of products (like fabrics, home décor, and more). I love the idea of my designs being part of someone's everyday life.

But Fernly Studio is more than just a place to sell art. It's a space where I hope other creatives can come together and feel inspired and supported. Being an artist can feel lonely sometimes, especially if you're doing it on your own. I want to create a sense of community here. I'll be sharing my progress, the things I've learned (and am still learning), and the behind-the-scenes of what it's like to build an art career from the ground up.

What You Can Expect from This Blog

I plan to share a mix of content that reflects my journey as an artist and the business side of things. Here's a little preview of what you can expect:

Behind-the-Scenes Updates: I'll give you a peek into what's happening in the studio. Whether I'm working on a new collection, preparing for a product launch, or just playing around with new ideas, I'll be sharing the process with you. I personally love seeing how other artists work, and I hope you'll enjoy getting a behind-the-scenes look at Fernly Studio.

Art Tips & Tutorials: As I learn new techniques and refine my skills, I'll be sharing tips and tutorials here, such as staying productive as an artist or experimenting with new materials. I want to create a space where other creatives can find helpful advice.

The Business Side of Art: Being an artist isn't just about creating — it's also about running a business, which can be overwhelming at times. From setting up an online store to managing social media, there's a lot to juggle. I'm still learning, but I'll be sharing the lessons I've picked up along the way in case it helps you, too.

Sales & New Products: I'll also use this blog to share news about upcoming products, new art releases, and special sales. If you're interested in adding some art to your home, this is where you'll hear about it first.

Personal Stories: I want this blog to feel personal and real. Art has always been a way to manage my anxiety and stress, and I plan to share some of those personal stories here as well. To me, life and creativity are connected, and I think many people can relate to that.

The Mission Behind Fernly Studio

At the core of it all, my mission with Fernly Studio is simple: to create art that brings a little more beauty and calm into people's lives. Whether it's a print that makes someone's living room feel cozier or a pattern that brightens their day, I want my work to have a positive impact.

But it's not just about the art itself. It's also about the community. I want to build a space where artists and creatives can come together, support one another, and share the joy (and struggles) of making art. We're all on this journey together, and I hope this blog becomes a place where you can find that sense of connection.
